The Moog D638 is a direct-drive hydraulic servo (servo-proportional) valve designed for precise control of fluid flow and pressure in demanding industrial hydraulic systems. Unlike traditional servo valves that rely on pilot oil, the D638 uses a permanent-magnet linear force motor to directly actuate the valve spool — improving response, reducing complexity, and eliminating the need for pilot flow.
